Recycling effort expands

An expansion of what can be recycled is the result of a renegotiated waste service contract for Centennial School District. The goal was to increase what can be recycled yet control the cost of the service and the time needed to accomplish the recycling task. The result is single stream recycling where one collection basket is used for the following: flattened cardboard, magazines, office paper, brown paper bags, newspapers, paperboard, junk mail, phone books, plastic bottles and containers #1-2, paper cardboard dairy and juice containers, aluminum cans, aluminum foil and pie tins, and tin or steel cans.

Credit rating reveals sound
financial standing

Centennial School District boasts an AA- credit
rating from Standard & Poors. That rating is at
the top of the 10 ratings categories.
Centennial received an underlying rating of AA-
and an enhanced rating of AAA, as reported by
the district’s financial advisor, Springsted
incorporated.
The enhanced rating comes from the State of
Minnesota Credit Enhancement Program, meaning
the district is able to use the state rating and the
state will guarantee the district’s bond payments.
The underlying rating of AA-, signifying High
Quality, indicates the positive financial health of
the district based on its fund balance, deep and diverse economic base, stable financial profile,
and moderate debt burden.
