Exploring the Continents - WebQuest

Process:

Are you ready to start learning about the continents?

Follow the steps on this page to complete the WebQuest. All links will open in a new window. Close the window when you are ready to look at the WebQuest again.

First, you must choose a continent that you want to study. Your choices are:

  • Asia
  • Africa
  • Australia
  • Antarctica
  • North America
  • South America
  • Europe

Click here for a continent map to print out and label.
(This is a review! Use this map to help you decide which continent you want to study!)

Now that you have chosen a continent, you are ready to start learning more about it! You will need to find out the following things about your continent:

  • What kinds of people live there?
  • What special animals live there?
  • What is the weather like?
  • What is the land like?
  • What are some countries that are there?
  • What is one special or unique thing about your continent?

Download your note taking sheet here.
(You can print it out to write and draw on it or you can type on it in Word.)

Have you filled in all the boxes on your planning/note taking sheet? If you are still stuck, you can search Yahooligans or Factmonster for your continent:

BHE Virtual Media Center

Go to Fact Monster

***You can also use other resources like the library or your Social Studies textbook!

Now that you have completed your plan, you are ready to write a paragraph about your continent. Use your notes and pictures to write sentences and don't forget the conclusion!

(You can type your paragraph in Word or write it in your spiral!)

Now you must present your work to the class. Use PowerPoint to make a slide show of what you have learned.

Here is a sample slide show to get you started.

Here is some clip art for you to use in your slide show.

(If you do not want to use PowerPoint, or if you have another creative idea of how you can present what you have learned, talk to your teacher about it!)

Turn in your plan and your paragraph to your teacher and present your PowerPoint to the class!

We can all enjoy learning about the seven continents together!

Great Job!
