Avast thar matey's and welcome. Look at that one-legged pirate. He be kind of scary to me.

What thinks ye when ye hear the word PIRATES - adventures at sea searching for treasure chests of gold, walking the plank, and robbing other ships of valuables?

Did ye know that thar were all kinds of pirates, even women. Are ye prepared to spy on a pirate on one of his blood thirsty adventures at sea? If so - What're ye watin fer? Let's hoist anchor and set sail. ARRRRR!

PART 1: Wait, if you don't want to "Walk the Plank" you better find out more about pirates before we begin our voyage. In fact, why don't you pretend you were alive when pirates roamed the Caribbean. Explore the links below. Then fill out the "If I Was a Pirate Sheet". Captain Hamlin will give you the sheet to use while you explore these sites. After you become a pirate we can cast off and go on our voyage.

Part 2: The Voyage

Let's get started. While on this adventure you will create a "Wanted Poster" for a pirate you learned about on your voyage. The poster will include a clip art picture of the pirate you choose, with a listing of his/her crimes and any reward that will be offered.

You will use Microsoft Publisher software to make and print the poster.

To spy on the pirate you choose, follow the steps below to be successful. But be careful that the pirate doesn't capture YOU! While spying on your pirate you need to think about these questions:

1. What is he/she is famous for?

2. What type of crimes did the pirate commit during his/her lifetime?

The "Wanted Poster" must be your design, so be as creative as you want to be. When the posters are finished they will be displayed in the hallway for other classes to see.
