Early Childhood

The first five years of a child’s life are fundamentally important. They are the foundation that shape children’s health, happiness, growth, development, and learning achievement at school, in the family and community, and in life in general. In this important period of development, children need positive early learning experiences, and Centennial is committed to providing quality opportunities for preschool learning.

School Readiness Preschool

School Readiness Preschool includes a parenting component. Research has shown that early childhood programs that involve parents and children working together are more effective than programs that only focus on the child. Involving families early encourages parents to play a more active role throughout their child's education.

Kids Club Preschool

KC Preschool, offered through Centennial Kids Club, includes a child care component. This full-day, year-before-kindergarten program is currently held at Blue Heron, Centerville, and Rice Lake elementary schools, and will be added to Centennial Elementary for the 2013-14 school year. Children are with a licensed teacher in the morning and remain in the classroom with a site manager in the afternoon.

Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)

Parents are a child's first teacher, and Early Childhood Family Education supports families in this important work. Centennial ECFE offers quality learning opportunities and resources for families with children from birth to kindergarten age, regardless of financial circumstances.

Early Childhood Screening

Screening is a free check of a child's hearing and vision, height and weight, immunizations, motor skills, speech and language skills, and general development. State law requires that children are screened before they enter kindergarten.
