Lake Elementary School is very proud of our Student Council Members and
our students in grades Kindergarten through fifth. Our Golden Lake
students are embarking on a world-wide service project. Our students
will be working with H2O For Life, a non-profit organization, to help
raise money to dig wells that will bring clean drinking water to the
students of Chepkemel School in Kericho, Kenya. It all started with one small project: students at Highview Middle School in Minnesota decided to raise money to fund a project in Kenya that would bring water to over 2000 people. They were so successful and so excited by the results that they just couldn't stop, and now we have H2O For Life! The goal of H2O For Life is to match up schools in the US with schools in developing countries that don't have access to clean water. The schools in the US raise funds to help pay for water projects to deliver safe water to the students and teachers at their partner school. What a great idea! By connecting these schools directly to each other, everyone has an opportunity to learn some really valuable lessons. Right now, H2O has schools in the US (mostly Minnesota) matched with schools in Kenya, Mozambique, Mali, and Nicaragua. There's great potential for this program to expand all across the US and the world though! See how Centennial Middle School is also involved in H2O for Life. |

What is H2O for Life?H20 for Life, a nonprofit organization, connects schools in the United States with schools in developing countries to complete WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) projects. H20 for Life aims to help students build a relationship with and an understanding of their partner school through curriculum and experiential learning while raising funds for WASH in Schools projects. 100
percent of contributions raised by schools goes directly to partner school
projects. All overhead expenses are funded through in-kind donations,
grants, and fund-raisers. |
Why H2O for Life?
|
How Can Our School Help? When students are exposed to compelling facts, they are drawn to take action. H2O for Life partners schools in the United States with schools in developing nations. Through service learning projects, students learn of the global water crisis and raise funds needed to bring water, latrines and hygiene education to their partner school. |
