It's tough being a kid! For
my sister and me living in Virginia in 1775, just getting through the day is full of
challenges and worries. Life on our farm is hard with lots of chores that need to be done,
and we have very little money to spend. Many things that we need have to be brought
here from far away England. And now, we even have to pay taxes on those things to
King George, or we have to do without. It's just not fair! My parents and
their friends are really mad! Father also says
that most of the colonists have had enough. And that many of the important leaders
in our 13 colonies are saying it's time for action. It's time for a revolution! Really? I am beginning to wonder what other things have happened that seem to make people in the colonies so angry and just who are these leaders that want a war?

1. You will create a Powerpoint slide show about
two (2) key people and two (2)
events that helped cause the American Revolutionary War. Your slide show will be presented
to your class during your Technology Lab time. 2. First you need to find out about important events and key figures of the American Revolution. A good way to do that is to look at Key Events Leading to the Revolution. Keep notes about events or people that you would like to know more about. 3. When you have decided what people and events you want to include in your Powerpoint project, please check with Ms. Dimian, Mrs. Jaeger, or Mrs. Albright to see if you can begin doing Internet research on the topics of your choice.

1. After your slide show topics have been approved by Ms. Dimian, Mrs. Jaeger or Mrs. Albright, use the Internet links below to search for more information about each topic. 2. Your slide show MUST include the types of information listed on the Data Collection Form, which Ms. Dimian, Mrs. Jaeger or Mrs. Albright will give you when they approve your research topics. 3. When your team has collected all its required data, begin planning your final webquest project, the Powerpoint slide show. Use the Storyboard Planning Sheet to design your slides. 4. When everyone in your class is ready to start creating their Powerpoint presentation, Ms. Dimian, Mrs. Jaeger, and Mrs. Albright will help you learn more about Powerpoint on your lab computer.

Conclusion 1. Knowing about the historical events and great people of the Revolutionary War era gives us a greater sense of who we are: Spirited, freedom-loving people. It helps us understand why our government was formed the way it was, and why our laws are designed to protect our individual liberties. 2. Therefore, after collecting all the information you need for your Powerpoint slide show, you may also want to explore other revolutionary war topics. Check the Revolutionary War Hotlist to help you identify other interesting topics. Use any of the Internet links above, or Google to search for more information about those topics on the Internet. PS: The Internet
can be a very useful and fun way to research a subject like this. There is a lot of
good information on it. But be careful not to believe everything
you find on the Internet. There is a lot of poor, incorrect information
on it as well. (See the real City of Mankato
